IVRT’s mission is to enrich cultural life, and to foster love and knowledge of the performing arts, in the San Gabriel and Inland Valley communities by offering superb productions of plays and musical theater works both classical and contemporary.

We keep our ticket prices low and offer further price reductions to nonprofit groups and to elderly, disabled and school-aged members of the community. These productions also provide a creative outlet—as well as significant theater training, education and experience—to the professional, non-professional and volunteer community members of all ages, races and ethnic and religious backgrounds who work on them.

The Inland Valley Repertory Theatre (IVRT) was founded and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 1990 and produced 29 shows in our first 7-8 years. After a hiatus from 1998 to 2007, some of the original company members sent out a letter of intent to revive IVRT, generating $26,000 in seed money to produce two shows in 2007. Seeking a permanent home, we turned to the Candlelight Pavilion in the City of Claremont. Initially the logistics were problematic: How could IVRT use Candlelight's stage when both entities' seasons were already planned? Undaunted, we came up with a unique niche programming and marketing idea, "Wednesdays Just Got Dramatic!" The concept was that IVRT would produce multi-week runs of shows on Wednesday nights, when the Candlelight--and most theaters--were otherwise dark. IVRT would have these nights all to itself. (We added Tuesday night shows in 2011.) We have continued to produce three- and four-show seasons at the Candlelight, always including at least one musical, ever since. A member of the Los Angeles Stage Alliance, IVRT is now established as one of the leading theater companies in eastern LA County. The past two years have seen us take significant further steps toward greater organizational consolidation and community involvement. Our Board of Trustees is committed to developing a long-range strategic plan for the company, including the definition of our "brand" image among theater artists, audiences and the greater community. In the community IVRT teamed up with local business to support the building of Claremont's new Shelton Park Outdoor Stage performance facility. Finally, over the past two years our subscriber base increased by 25%. Our tickets sales, total audience numbers and individual donor figures have also increased.
